- On March 25, 2014 in Houma, Louisiana an allegedly 130 pound dog fatally attacked a four-year-old girl in an apartment. According to news reports,
the mother tried to fight the dog off, was unsuccessful, and the dog turned and attacked her. Police arrived, and they killed the dog with gunshot after supposedly the dog is charged at them. Twelve shots were fired at the dog. A photograph of the dog posted on the Internet suggests that it was probably some type of mastiff mix, and not principally a pit bull type dog. Pit bull type dogs are considerably smaller in size. Police described the dog as a “monster”. - Circumstances are lacking about a February 20, 2020 incident in which a 64-year-old lady was mauled to death in her home by several pit bulls. It is uncertain if the victim was the owner the dogs.
