Three sled dogs managed to break away from the restraint of being chained and proceeded to maul and kill a four year old boy in the Baffin Islands, Canada, on March 25th, 2010. A tragic incident to say the least, but not dissimilar to the circumstances in which other dog bite fatalities have occurred after a canine has broken away from restraint.
A witness to the incident, the town corner, saw a dogs attacking the boy. He described the boy’s neck as “almost chewed through.” All the dogs were killed at the scene by the coroner.
