Animal Behavior Counseling Services, Inc. was founded in 1983 by California animal behavior specialist and dog behavior expert witness, Richard Polsky, Ph.D.
Dr. Polsky resides in Los Angeles, California. He welcomes inquiries from owners with dogs experiencing behavioral problems and from attorneys seeking legal support from an animal behavior expert witness.
Dr. Polsky’s past research focused on the statistical analysis of bite frequencies in different dog breeds. His expert witness work focuses on such issues as provocation, negligence, dog bite safety and prevention and if the injury to a victim was the result a dog bite.
ABCS was incorporated in Los Angeles, California in 1986. The business set down its roots in Santa Monica, CA. and then moved to its current location in West Los Angeles, California. ABCS currently employs three individuals, including Richard Polsky, Ph.D., the President and founder of the business.
ABCS, under the direction of animal behavior expert, Dr. Polsky, has rendered behavior therapy and training services to over 12,000 canines and cats in California. Moreover, Dr. Polsky has been retained as an expert witness on over 500 occasions by attorneys in both civil and criminal matters.
The majority of the behavioral problems he has treated in canines have dealt with aggressive behavior. Over 100 different breeds of dog had been treated including, pit bulls, Dogos, Cane corsos, Akitas, Great Danes and German shepherd type dogs.
In addition, thousands of dogs, including police K-9s and over 100 different breeds, have taken part in Dr. Polsky’s Head Start Puppy Training program. This program continued for 25 consecutive years without interruption in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Polsky ended the program 2015. This allowed the time needed for Dr. Polsky to focus on his expert witness work for dog bite attorneys.
Dr. Polsky, as an animal behavior expert, has a strong interest in temperament evaluation for dogs facing dangerous dog hearings. He welcomes inquiries from owners.
Dr. Polsky’s past research focuses on dog-owner interactive behavior in dog parks, shelter dog behavior and comparison about attitudes of people towards pit bulls in different parts of the USA.
Currently, Dr. Polsky is available on a limited basis to work works with owners and their dogs on a case-by-case basis.
