$1 million dog bite settlement in Flordia against property owner & property management company
A Florida Power & Light Co. meter reader who was mauled by four pit bulls in 2003 reached settlement in the amount of $1 million approximately a year later in her negligence case against the property owner and the property management company.
The lawsuit arose as a result of four pit bulls jumping the fence in attacking 20-year FPL employee Carol Dennison in June 2003. During the attack, Dennison suffered major head lacerations, lost an ear and part of her scalp during the attack.
The main defendants included property owner, Robert A. Shiffrar and property management company, Penn Properties Inc. The dog owner was dropped from the lawsuit because lack insurance coverage.
